Jobs I take on

The everyday repairs and installs that keep a home running. If it's on this list, it's a job I do well — and most can be sorted in a single visit.

01

Flat-pack & furniture

Wardrobes, beds, desks and units built properly — squared up, level and solid, with the box gone before I leave.

02

Shelving & wall fixings

Floating shelves, brackets, mirrors and heavy fixings — anchored correctly into stud, brick or plasterboard.

03

TV & picture mounting

Screens mounted flush and level with cables tidied away, plus gallery walls hung straight and evenly spaced.

04

Minor plumbing fixes

Dripping taps, worn washers and seals, new shower heads and silicone — the small leaks before they become big ones.

05

Doors, handles & locks

Sticking doors eased, hinges and handles replaced, draught-proofing and new latches that close on the first try.

06

Curtains, rails & blinds

Poles, tracks and blinds measured and fitted level — the finishing touch that never quite gets around to being done.

07

Painting & touch-ups

Filling, sanding and a tidy coat — patched cracks, scuffed walls and woodwork brought back to looking cared-for.

08

Sealing, grouting & tiling

Fresh silicone around baths and kitchens, regrouted joints and cracked tiles replaced — crisp lines and no more damp gaps.

09

General repairs & odd jobs

The growing list on the fridge door. Send it over — if it's small and fiddly, it's exactly what I'm for.

Jobs I don't take on

I'd rather say no than do something badly or outside my trade. These need a certified specialist — and I'm happy to point you to a good one.

Gas appliances & boilers
Anything gas needs a Gas Safe registered engineer.
Major electrical work
Consumer units, rewiring and new circuits are for a registered electrician.
Structural alterations
Removing walls or anything load-bearing needs an engineer's sign-off.
Roofing & work at height
Roofs and tall ladders are a job for properly equipped specialists.
Asbestos & hazardous materials
These must be handled and removed under licence.

Meet your handyman

I'm Calum — a time-served joiner, born and raised in Edinburgh. After fifteen years on sites across the city I set out on my own to do the smaller jobs properly: the shelf that never went up, the door that won't close, the flat-pack still in its box.

Every job gets the same care, whether it's an hour's work or a full day. I turn up when I say I will, charge what I quote, and leave your home tidier than I found it.
